U.I.L Adjudicator, Contest Manager & Clinician
Adam is a freelance actor, director, teacher; script cutter/consultant, acting coach, and certified U.I.L One Act play Judge and Clinician. He holds a B.F.A in Acting from Texas Tech University, and acquired his Royal Shakespeare Company “Stand up for Shakespeare” certification, which is a certification given from the RSC and is specialized and geared toward teaching children and and young adults Shakespeare. Adam most recently earned his M.F.A in Acting from the University of Houston's Professional Actor Training Program. Adam taught high school for eight years in the El Paso and Houston areas. From 2006 – 2013 Zarowski and Austin HS in El Paso put on 36 plays, musicals, and traveling children shows. During this time Adam acted as the Director, tech director, all the designers, and the production manager of all the shows. Amidst these, eight U.I.L One Act Plays, which advanced to every different level of competition, including a State Finalist in 2011. Adam acted as the Head Artistic Director of three El Paso I.S.D summer Musicals and acted as the Fine Arts Head, the U.I.L Academic head and as the theatre’s manager. In his last few years of public teaching Adam began giving clinics and workshops other schools in Texas and all over the Country. Zarowski doesn’t believe that we are competing against each other and as much as we can help each other the more successful everyone will become. Also during his time as a Theatre Teacher, Zarowski has also couched Speech and Debate. He's coached, 44 state qualifiers in DI, HI, Duet, DUO and prose and poetry, 4 national qualifiers, 13 Texas state quarter finalists, 5 state semi finalists, 2 state finalists in Humorous Interpretation acting, and in the year 2011El Paso Austin H.S was ranked 5th in the entire state with was 37 qualifications overall. This all while only competing in just 4 out of 14 events offered at the competitions. Adam believes strongly in the integration of speech and theatre, especially for kids. In 2011 Adam was named the Teacher of the Year at Austin H.S and was a finalist in the district race. Since retiring from full time teaching, Adam has traveled around the country and has coached multiple national finalists in speech and debate, has work shopped and cut scripts for numerous state advancing schools in OAP, earned his MFA in Acting from UH, and toured 10 states with the American Shakespeare Center, acting and teaching people of all ages how to really enjoy and master Shakespeare. His educational workshops include, “SCORE,” “Clock Management,” and "The Magic of Theatre!”
